For the prevention of unsafe builds and add-ons to from sneaking in, with the built-in Kodi does not allow installation from the unknown, third-party sources. But it’s not mandatory that third-party add-on are unsafe, especially not the ones we will discuss below.

Which Platforms Do These Methods Work On?
Kodi uses the same preface across all platforms and any device (except for a few specific additions). If you are looking to fix the Windows, Android, iOS or Amazon Fire Stick Kodi buffering queries, the methods described below will do it the same way.
Kodi Buffering Fix: Optimize Cache Size
Cache are described as an additional memory that helps the high-speed retrieval. It is used Extensively in the world of technology, in the streaming of videos or any thing to be play-backed it is the video cache that is the most important thing.
Whenever you start a streaming video over the internet, whole video is not downloaded in your browser or app in the single moment. A small portion of the video is cached and saved in the temporary location (RAM is known for this). You might have notices that whenever you are watching a video and suddenly the connection of the internet is lost, the video continues to play for a bit of time besides stopping on the spot. The video that plays even after not connected with the internet is cached on the local system.
To alleviate Kodi buffering issues, the most important two things should be in mind. In the very beginning you need to locate substantial cache memory to Kodi in RAM. Secondly, you must keep cleaning cache on Kodi from the previously played videos because it consumes more space then.
We will learn to change Kodi buffer settings to adjust optimal Cache space in the further guide. We will also, learn how to clear cache in Kodi. I have added four methods to solve this Kodi problem. First Three methods will work on all the devices including Amazon Fire TV / Stick, while the last method is not capable on the FireStick.
|Attention Kodi Users|
|Governments and ISPs do monitor their users’ who are streaming online activities. I the streaming is copyright content, you might get in the serious trouble. Get a Kodi VPN to be as a hidden user. This will show your activities anonymous.

Method 1: How to Stop Buffering Using Areas Wizard
Ares Wizard is one of the most well known and widely used Kodi stable and usual tool. Here we will learn How to use this tool to tweak cache settings and resolve Kodi buffering problem. First, install Ares Wizard on Kodi
Let’s see how we can fix Kodi buffering issue after installing Ares Wizard by boosting the cache.
Step 1: Launch Ares Wizard and click ‘Tweaks’ a button present on the top
Step 2: Click ‘Advanced Settings Wizard’ button
There is a button ‘NEXT’ present on the bottom right you just need to click it. Before clicking it let me remind you to read the word of ‘Caution’ from the developers of this add-on.
In a nutshell, the thing you need to be aware of is that:
- There is not any single Cache size allocation that is just perfect for every user. It has a huge part that it depends on the device on which Kodi is being used including system specs (especially RAM size)
- You can also place cache in the device storage (for example a hard drive) or RAM, it is highly suggested.
- 60 MB of Ram is used by Kodi for caching purposes. But, if you have a lot of spare RAM, bumping up the size is totally upon you.
Step 3: After understanding the above points, click ‘Next’
Kodi will now display the available RAM on the point and will suggest the accurate location size for video cache memory (this memory is 1/3 of the available RAM). keeping 10% margin is also recommended just in case other programs take up the memory further.
In case, if you have 900 MB memory, 1/3 of that would be 300 MB. 10% of it would be the margin and equal to 30 MB. The ideal location for video cache memory is about 270 MB.
NOTE: Too much memory allotment to Kodi cache might affect device’s overall performance.
Step 4: ‘Generate Settings’ should be clicked on the bottom left.
Step 5: If we see on the next screen, Video Cache size is supposed to be changed by dragging the slider left or right. You can see that in the visual provided below.
As you can see, i had spare 900 MB RAM. Hence, Ares Wizard recommended 270 MB to me.
Ares Wizard also offers 4 Buffer Modes. Take a look at the bottom above the ‘Apply these settings’ button. Below we have explained the functions of these modes.
Mode 1: Kodi will buffer every streaming in this mode that is there on the internet that includes from cloud source and FTP.
Mode 2 (highly suggested): This is the default mode. Kodi will try to buffer just about everything. it will also buffer the flies playing from the local storage.
Mode 3: The buffering is restricted to website streams only.
Mode 4: Now, buffering is completely disabled
If you are facing Kodi buffering issue besides having substantial RAM size that you should select the 2nd mode. because it offers smooth playback as it caches a large portion of the video.
Delete Kodi Temporary Files Using Ares Wizard Maintenance
If Kodi buffering issue still there and it is stopping or crashing in a flow, then you have a fair chance you have run out of storage space. Low space in devices are the cause of this issue. For example, you have a handheld Android device with almost 16 GB storage and you use Kodi regularly with various add-ons. Besides finding the Kodi buffering fix, it would be worth your while to resolve this issue.
Step 1: In order to clear the temp files, just click the Maintenance button on top.
Step 2: Now, click these one by one.
- Delete Thumbnails
- Delete Packages
The thumbnails which i had recently deleted and packages, together they were taking 1 GB of space.
If you have any saved caches they do take much of the space. Cache can also be cleared on Kodi and free up space. Deleting cache will not effect the settings.
